The IMPORTANCE of CLUB FITTING
by Tom Barber
It is really pretty simple to explain. When you buy
clothes, do you try them on or at least buy a size that you suspect will
fit? Of course you do! The best players in the world (all of the PGA
Tours, the LPGA Tour, The Mini-Tours) are ALL fit for their clubs!
Our staff is as good as any of this planet at club
fitting. Lucky you! Roger Barber has been doing club fitting for over 25
years and is versed with every manufacturer that makes clubs. Jeff Barber
is a Nike Staff Member, Boris King is a Titleist Staff Member and Al
Crawford is a Cobra Staff Member. Collectively, these men have attended
fitting seminars by Cleveland, Cobra, Mizuno, Nike and Titleist.
What should you do? Well, I'll make it very simple. YOU
CAN PLAY ONLY AS WELL AS YOUR CLUBS WILL ALLOW! Get fit by our golf
professionals. By the way, our prices are VERY COMPETITIVE and
I will
guarantee each and every fit to your total satisfaction.

More about club fitting at the Barber Shop
There are several elements that are considered when being
club fit at the Barber Shop. The first is the length of the club. Clubs
that are too short may contribute to hitting the ball off the toe. Clubs
that are too long may contribute to hitting the ball off of the heel.
The proper length club will allow you to hit the ball consistently in
the center of the clubface. What this means to you is more distance.
The second element we test for is the proper lie angle. The
lie angle is the element that influences the accuracy of the ball flight
most. If the iron is too upright, the ball will fly left of the target.
Conversely, if the iron is too flat, the ball will fly to the right of
the target. Having your clubs fitted to the proper lie angle will
greatly improve your directional control.
The third element we test is your club head speed. This
information helps us recommend the fourth and fifth
element proper type of shaft and the proper flex. There are a
myriad of shaft choices on the market ranging from Nippon, Rifle,
Aldila, Grafalloy and Pershing, just to name a few. Each of these shafts
in turn comes in a range of flexes. It's almost impossible to make a
choice without expert guidance.
The sixth element we look at is the proper grip size. A grip
that is too big restricts the wrists from rolling which results in the
loss of distance and direction. A grip that is too small causes
excessive rolling of the wrists and results in pulled shots.
The seventh element is the most fun…aesthetics. What looks
good and feels good to you! There are so many great clubs on the market
to choose from once we narrow down the specs. Now it is just up to you
to choose the design.
We are authorized club fitters for Titleist, Mizuno,
Nike, Sonartec, Cleveland , Cobra, and Taylor Made. Our commitment to
